Do you remember the excitement of picking out a new backpack, crayons, and notebooks for the start of school? You could walk in the door the first day of school ready for a world of educational possibilities open to you.
Supplies 4 Success (S4S) works in partnership with Lakewood Community Service Center (LCSC), Trinity Lakewood Community Outreach (TLCO), Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation, Lakewood City Schools and H20. Our combined group aims to support the families and students who find themselves unable to purchase the supplies needed for a successful school year.
Over half of the students in the Lakewood school system qualify for the free/reduced programs. If those families need assistance to provide food daily, one can imagine that purchasing binders, flash drives, calculators, locks etc. could be difficult.

Our guidance counselors see the impact on our students:
On behalf of Lakewood High School Guidance Counselors, I want to let you know how much we appreciate having the donated school supplies. We see firsthand how providing a notebook, folders, or even pens and pencils can make a difference for our students. Our teachers are now aware that we have supplies so they are helping us identify students in need. Teenagers often are embarrassed if they can’t afford supplies so this has really helped bridge that gap.
- Jeanne Hoopes, LHS guidance office
Just last week I handed out several headsets! It is such a wonderful blessing that we are able to provide our students with the necessary tools and supplies they need while here at Emerson. We continue to get new students in our building weekly including one to arrive next Monday from Nepal, she speaks no English and has no school supplies. We will have a backpack waiting for her filled with supplies which have been generously donated! In addition to new students coming in I am always able to provide teachers with extra supplies throughout the school year.

We need your support to make sure each student has the tools they need for academic success – from crayons to graphing calculators! Last year donations allowed us to serve over 1,000 students from kindergarten to high school.
S4S will collect supplies until Friday, August 19th, if your organization would be interested in collecting items over the summer. We can provide you with a collection box or a change jar (for monetary donations). Year round donations are accepted at the Lakewood Recreation Department. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or Karen at 216.221.2295, for questions or additional information.
Thank you for your support of Lakewood students.
